Spotted Owlet is a small nocturnal owl widely and commonly found in tropical Asia from India to Southeast Asia. It is resident of farmlands and open areas near human civilization. They may also be found living in cities. It is also known as Spotted Little Owl. It is a vehicle (vahan) of Lakshmi, Goddess of wealth but surprisingly its calls are associated with bad omens.
