The Spotted Dove is a medium-sized stocky dove with square-tipped tail. It is native to India and found throughout Southeast Asia. It has also been introduced to many other parts of the world. It is also called the Spotted Turtle Dove, Mountain Dove, Pearl-necked Dove or Lace-necked dove. They fly from the ground with an explosive flutter and will sometimes glide down to a perch. The Spotted Dove is usually found in pairs or small groups and feeds mainly on seeds, including grain, taken from the ground.
