The White-breasted Waterhen is widely distributed across Southeast Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. It is a water bird in the Rail family and is related to birds like Moorhens, Coots, and Crakes. White-breasted Waterhen are usually seen single or in pairs, foraging slowly – very similar to the behaviour that we see in our domesticated chickens. They are somewhat bolder than most other Rails and are often seen stepping slowly with their tail cocked upright in open marshes or even drains near busy roads.
