The Common Sandpiper is a medium-sized bird of the Sandpiper family and often can be seen near the water’s edge on beaches and mud flats. The Common Sandpiper is a migratory bird and a winter visitor to the State of Gujarat, India. When in upland areas, they live along river, ponds, or lakes. Common Sandpiper spends a lot of time on the ground. Its head and rear part of the body are constantly bobbing while it walks or feeds on the ground. This unusual behaviour is known as “teetering“.
