The Red-vented Bulbul is a small sized bird in the bulbul family of passerines. Red-vented Bulbuls are known to cause significant damage to fruit and vegetable crops and aggressively chase and attack other birds. It is easily identified by the bright red colour on the vent and this also reflects in its name. Males and females look similar though the males are slightly larger.
