The Ashy Prinia or Ashy Wren-warbler is a small warbler which is commonly found in city gardens and farmlands. It’s small size, attractive colours and the upright tail make it really easy to identify. They are found either single or in pairs on small trees or shrubs and will often visit the ground. Though not shy, it is of a restrained nature and hops about quietly among the bushes in search of insects, only uttering a sharp “tee-tee-tee” from time to time. This prinia is a resident breeder in the Indian Subcontinent, ranging across most of India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Western Myanmar.
