Asian Koel is a member of cuckoo family of birds. Koel are very frugivorous as their diet consists entirely on fruits. It is compared with nightingale because of the melodious singing. It is supposed to have derived it’s name from a Hindi word which has its roots as “Kokila” in Sanskrit. During hard winters they migrate to warmer areas.
