Oriental Darter is a large, dark water bird with a long, slender neck, long tail and a dagger like bill. It is also known as Darter, Indian Darter or Snakebird for the fact that it swims low in water with only its long, snake-like neck and head exposed above water. It is commonly spotted perching with its big wings outstretched, as their feathers get wet (similar to Cormorants) and need to be dried in the sun after a swim.
