Greater Racket-tailed Drongo is widely found in Southeast Asia. It is found in India, Bangladesh and in Southern side of the Himalayan mountains. Also found in Southern China, on the island of Hainan, and in some parts of Indonesia. They are also known as Large Racket-tailed Drongo, Large Racquet-tailed Drongo, Sri Lankan Drongo, Ceylon Crested Drongo, and Ceylon Racket-tailed Drongo.
