Common Teal

The Common Teal or Eurasian Teal belongs to the family Ducks, Geese and Swans. It is a small dabbling duck and looks very colourful. The bird gets its name from the coloured area around the eyes which is blue-green. Common Teal can be seen in large flocks in wetlands, particularly during the day when they are likely to be roosting. Common Teal are among the fastest flying birds in this family and it can be difficult fix an eye on them as they fly past.
