The Northern Pintail or simply Pintail is a fairly large dabbling duck widely spread and breeds in the northern areas of Europe, Asia and North America. It is highly migratory, wintering mainly south of its breeding grounds, almost as far as the equator. They are considered the most handsome of all ducks and are easily recognised by their slender body, long neck and long spiky tail feathers. This feature also gives it it’s common name while it’s graceful and acrobatic speedy flights gives it the nickname of “greyhound of the air“.
