The Northern Shoveler, also spelled as Northern Shoveller is a common and widespread duck which breeds in Northern areas of Europe, Asia and North America. It spends its winters in Southern Europe, Africa, India and South America. The most visible diagnostic characteristic of the Northern Shoveler is its large spoon-shaped bill, which widens towards the tip and creates a shape unique. The unique use of their bill to strain food from water gives them the name of Shoveler.
