The Peregrine Falcon is a raptor, or bird of prey. Their name comes from the Latin word peregrinus, which means “wandering, traveling, or migrating”. The Peregrine Falcon is one of the most widespread birds in the world and is found on all continents except Antarctica, and on many oceanic islands. It is a very fast flier, and during its spectacular hunting stoop from heights of over 1 KM, the Peregrine may reach speeds of 320 Km/h as it drops to catch its prey in mid-air.
