The Brown-headed Gull belongs to the family of Gulls, Terns and Skimmers and is found in the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia, China, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. The Brown-headed Gull is closely related to the Black-headed Gull and is difficult to differentiate between the two. In India it breeds in Ladakh and is a common winter visitor to most coasts and inlands in India.
