Common Kingfisher is a small sized kingfisher and its plumage makes it one of the most colourful and instantly recognisable birds. It has a short tail, large head and long bill with bright blue upperparts and orange underparts. It is of shy nature and lives in quiet waters with vegetation on the shores. It perches on reeds and shrubs. It takes small fishes for feeding. The Common Kingfisher is also known as European Kingfisher or River Kingfisher.
