The House Sparrow is a small bird from the sparrow family and found in most parts of the world. As the name suggests, the House Sparrow is strongly associated with human habitations and can live in urban and rural areas. It mostly avoids extensive woodlands, grasslands and deserts. Though it is widespread and abundant, its numbers have declined in some areas. In Gujarat, many free nests made from cardboard are distributed each year by nature lovers to ease nesting as the new and modern designs of our infrastructure does not give any room for the sparrow to nest.
