Black-lored Tit is a resident breeder in the Himalayas and peninsular India, where they inhabit open tropical forests. Lore in the bird’s common name refers to the area between eye and bill. The broad and black line near the eye has given this bird its name. They are also known as Black-lored Yellow Tit, Black-spotted Yellow Tit, Black-spotted Tit, Himalayan Black-lored Tit, Indian Yellow Tit, Indian Black-lored Tit and Yellow-cheeked Tit.
